Internal Medicine – F1

The Internal Medicine F1 Unit is a 20-bed unit consisting of all private rooms. The welcoming and collaborative team cares for adult patients over the age of 15. Frequently occurring diagnoses are congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes mellitus, deep vein thrombosis, liver failure and pneumonia. Patients who meet general practice unit criteria who request or require a private room may be admitted to F1. The unit is medically managed 24/7 by senior medical staff called hospitalists and medical residents.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Provides leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise and document care and teaching of patients and family. Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to health care team. Participates in finding solutions for variances from patient goals and ensures implementation of solutions.

• Position: 36 hours per week
• Shift: Midnights 12 Hour Shifts

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred. 
  • Current Michigan State Board of Nursing RN license required
  • Current BLS certification 
  • Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans.
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel.
