Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) located in Detroit, Michigan, one of the world’s most distinguished academic medical centers, is seeking a full time Pulmonary/Critical Care Physician.

 

 

The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine consists of over 40 faculty and 30 fellows at six (6) sites throughout southeast Michigan. These sites are include multiple outpatient clinic sites and three (3) HFHS hospitals. The Division offers a full spectrum of tertiary and quaternary care services for complex lung disease and the most advanced therapies available for airway disease in the U.S. The Division serves as a major referral center and encompasses the largest intensive care unit complex in Michigan. This is a very large Division with a distinguished history.

 

The Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Division at Henry Ford offers the most advanced therapies available for airways disease in the U.S., serving as a major referral center for complex lung diseases with the largest Medical ICU complex in Michigan. The Division has one of the largest lung cancer programs and one of the region’s only interventional pulmonologist staffed centers. The Division’s bronchoscopy suite provides state-of-the-art technology including airway stenting and endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle biopsy. Multidisciplinary pulmonary treatment programs are provided for lung cancer, sarcoidosis, pulmonary fibrosis, and other lung diseases. A special inpatient lung floor is dedicated to the care of pulmonary disease patients at Henry Ford Hospital.

 

Pulmonary clinical trial therapies sponsored by the NIH, American Lung Association, and other sources focus on advanced treatment for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, sarcoidosis, pulmonary hypertension, sepsis, and respiratory failure. The Division partners with the Transplant Institute and the Center for Cancer Surgery at Henry Ford to provide the full spectrum of advanced therapies for lung diseases.

 

The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine houses over 40 faculty board certified in pulmonary and/or critical care medicine. The Division is represented in three main areas: Clinical Care, Research, and Education.

 

Clinical Care: Division staff oversees the largest medical ICU in the state at Henry Ford Hospital and provides comprehensive outpatient services for complex lung and airways disease including interventional pulmonology and clinical trial therapies..

 

Pulmonary Medicine: Our pulmonologists offer multidisciplinary clinics for interstitial lung disease (ILD), pulmonary hypertension, sarcoidosis, and lung transplantation.

 

Interventional Pulmonology: Interventional pulmonologists provide the full scope of services for lung cancer, airways cancer and other complex airways disease, pulmonary nodules, and complicated asthma. Services include autofluorescence bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound, transbronchial needle aspiration biopsy, rigid and flexible biopsy techniques, percutaneous needle biopsy, and single and bilateral whole lung lavage.

 

Medical ICU: At Henry Ford Hospital’s 68-bed MICU, our team has special expertise in the most complex cases including severe ARDS, pneumonia, sepsis, renal and hepatic failure, and multi-system organ failure.

 

Lung Transplant: The Division’s lung transplant specialists are part of the multi-organ Henry Ford Transplant Institute. The lung transplant program offers single/double-lung transplantation.

 

  Research: Research is ongoing within the disciplines of pulmonary medicine, critical care medicine, interventional pulmonology, and sleep medicine. Projects include novel therapies for COPD, markers for sepsis and sepsis management, and endobronchial valve placement for minimally invasive lung volume reduction. Our research focus ranges from disease screening, prevention and management to health outcomes, disparities in care, and health economics.

 

Education: We have one of the largest education programs with over 20 fellows in various forms of Pulmonary and/or Critical Care Medicine training. We were one of the first programs in the country to offer a combined Internal Medicine/Emergency Medicine/Critical Care Medicine training program. The fellowship works closely and in conjunction with the accredited program in Internal Medicine at Henry Ford Hospital.

  • Must have completed or currently completing an ACGME/AOA approved Pulmonary/Critical Care fellowship program.
