Pharmacist (Pharmacy Innovation) - Fulltime - Bingham Farms
This Pharmacist position will function as an enterprise project manager for HVPE. The focus of this role is on enterprise level project leadership for pharmacy centralization, integrated care delivery, and HPOD work.
Rather than traditional order verification or dispensing based pharmacist duties, this role will coordinate and drive large scale pharmacy initiatives across the system. These initiatives include centralization of call functionality across the outpatient network and implementation of novel technologies.
The role will also provide pharmacist level project leadership to HPODs. HPODs are focused agile work groups that are accountable for rapid progress on defined pharmacy value initiatives. This position will help align deliverables, timelines, risk mitigation and interdependencies across those pods.
This role will be accountable for:
- Serving as the pharmacist level project manager for enterprise pharmacy strategic initiatives that cross ambulatory, specialty and community pharmacy domains.
- Driving pharmacy centralization work. This includes consolidation and standardization of prior authorization workflows and centralized patient communication and call center models.
- Acting as a core connector across operational owners, clinical leadership, finance, IT, and site level pharmacy leaders. The goal is to ensure that system level decisions are implemented consistently and on a defined timeline.
- Coordinating HPOD project plans. This includes documenting scope and success measures for each pod, clarifying accountable owners, tracking milestones, surfacing barriers, and preparing briefing materials and executive readouts for senior leadership.
- Building and maintaining repeatable project infrastructure for pharmacy. This includes timelines, RACI style accountability grids, executive status summaries, and implementation checklists that can be used across future pharmacy centralization projects.
- Preparing leadership level materials that summarize current performance, operational impact, financial impact, and required decisions.
- Escalating risk and recommending mitigation steps when timelines, regulatory requirements, patient safety, patient access, or financial value are at risk.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Must hold a degree from an accredited college of pharmacy; residency in hospital pharmacy strongly preferred. Should demonstrate acumen in verbal and written communication skills which enable him/her to contribute effectively in the dissemination of drug information to all levels of health care personnel in the institution. Must possess a thorough understanding of the pathophysiology and pharmacotherapy of disease states and have the application skills needed to permit proper integration of these in monitoring drug therapy. Must have basic abilities for participating in the various teaching programs including instruction and supervision of undergraduate pharmacy students, interns, and pharmacy technician trainees. Should have the skills necessary for providing informal and formal instruction of students and other health care providers on drug therapy and inpatient operational activities. Must demonstrate the ability to work with others in developing improved services for patients.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Michigan. If eligible, licensure must be obtained within 30 days of hire; failure to obtain licensure will result in termination of the Pharmacist position.
