Henry Ford Health is seeking a full-time Pediatrician to provide comprehensive primary care services at Henry Ford Medical Center – Taylor, while also serving in a leadership role as Medical Director for the School-Based and Community Health Program (SBCHP) – West Region.

This hybrid role combines direct patient care with clinical leadership, program oversight, and strategic development, supporting Henry Ford Health’s commitment to high-quality, equitable, and community-centered pediatric care. About 50% of time will be spent at Taylor Medical Center and 50% will be devoted to SBCHP.

Henry Ford Health SBCHP provides primary care and behavioral health services to children ages 3-21 regardless of health insurance coverage or ability to pay. Our clinics are located within schools across the Detroit Metropolitan Area.

Clinical Responsibilities – General Pediatrics (Taylor Medical Center)

  • Provide outpatient pediatric care for patients from infancy through adolescence.
  • Maintain a patient panel with an expected volume of approximately 20–24 patients per day
  • Deliver preventative, acute, and chronic care management aligned with evidence-based guidelines.
  • Participate in a shared call schedule (phone only); no inpatient rounding required.
  • Work flexible/non-traditional hours based on clinic needs.
  • Utilize the electronic medical record (Epic) for documentation, care coordination, and communication.
  • Support patient-centered care that emphasizes health equity, access, and population health outcomes.
  • Foster a team-based, inclusive clinical environment

 

Leadership Responsibilities – Medical Director, SBCHP West Region

  • Provide clinical oversight of medical services within the School-Based and Community Health Program (SBCHP) West Region.
  • Partner with SBCHP leadership to ensure high-quality care delivery and compliance with program requirements (e.g., CAHC grants).
  • Review and approve policies, procedures, protocols, and standing orders annually.
  • Conduct regular chart reviews with Nurse Practitioners and Nurses to identify gaps in preventive, acute, and chronic care.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to develop and implement Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) when needed.
  • Serve as a clinical consultant to SBCHP providers for complex cases via phone, email, or EMR.
  • Identify and lead quality improvement initiatives and care model enhancements across SBCHP sites.
  • Participate in and support monthly clinical staff meetings, providing guidance and education.
  • Engage with external partners (schools, community organizations, stakeholders) to ensure alignment, performance monitoring, and issue resolution.
  • Assist in patient experience and service recovery efforts, including addressing complaints and improving care delivery.
  • Partner with the Group Practice Operations Director and leadership team on strategic planning, growth, and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Advocate for SBCHP within the Department of Pediatrics and participate in departmental meetings, committees, and initiatives.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO with current Michigan medical licensure (or eligible).
  • Board certified or board eligible in Pediatrics.
  • Completion of an ACGME/AOA-accredited Pediatrics residency program.
  • Active DEA license, NPI number, and Michigan controlled substance license (as applicable).
  • Demonstrated commitment to health equity and community health
  • Prior leadership, quality improvement, or population health experience preferred.
