GENERAL SUMMARY:

8-12 hour shifts for inpatient coverage of neurosurgery service at Level 3 trauma center. Responsible for daily rounding, admissions, discharges and consultations of ER and hospitalized patients for the neurosurgery service. Open to covering day and night shifts.

  • The Specialty/Invasive Physician Assistant (PA) will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. 
  • The Specialty/Invasive PA will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first line provider to patients and their families.
  • Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care. Works in collaboration with attending physicians, advanced practice providers, consultants, house officers, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently.
  • Specific procedures as per credentialing as indicated by training and experience.
  • Works in any of the following departments: Cardiovascular Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Interventional Radiology, Nephrology, Neurology, Oncology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Pulmonary Medicine, Surgery, Urgent Care, Urology. 
  • Requires Master's Degree in Nursing; Licensure as Certified Nurse Practitioner; Licensure as a Registered Nurse -OR- Requires a Bachelor's Degree; completion of an AMA-approved Physician Assistant program; Licensure as a Physician Assistant
  • Requires BCLS Certification
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience working as an APP in Neurosurgery is preferred.
  • Current ACLS/BLS as required. Current ATLS/PALS provider status as required.
