The Henry Ford Hospital transplant unit is a newly remodeled 20 bed transplant unit. This unit cares for patients who have had liver, kidney, or pancreas transplants, the donors who donated those organs, and patients who have had hepatobiliary surgeries. This unit is one of two multi-organ transplant centers in Michigan.

Family members are able to spend the night with the patients. It is not uncommon for patients to have episodes of rejection, and they are readmitted to the unit where they feel safe and comfortable with our staff. Education is vitally important to transplant patients, and the transplant unit has a nurse to patient ratio that allows the nurse ample time to spend with patients and their families. The unit uses self-scheduling and strives to accommodate the unique work-life needs of each employee.

The unit has a family atmosphere and an excellent working relationship/collaboration with the Physicians and PAs.
