GENERAL SUMMARY:
In addition to general responsibilities of Polysomnographic Technologist-Registered, Group Leader is responsible for the following items. This person has a limited supervisory authority. Corrective actions may be taken by this person only with the approval and signature of immediate supervisor or department director.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In the presence of a supervisor:
General Stores: Weekly
1. Maintains general stocks for day to day hook-ups and technical operation of the lab. Ordering general items as necessary.
2. Places supplies in appropriate areas.
3. Maintains storage areas in orderly, uncluttered fashion…may occasionally require assistance from other technical staff…paper stocking, supplies, etc.…
4. Fills out P.O. for items not found in hospital catalog and submits to supervisor for approval signature.

Monthly inventory: 3rd week of the month
1. Using pre-constructed list, checks complete stock of lab.
2. Makes supervisor aware of any shortages
General Policies: Technical Staff
1. Monitors daily operation and takes appropriate action as advised by supervisor if any policy infractions occur with technical staff.
2. Checks for errors in daily operation and takes appropriate steps to correct them.
Has authority to request new hook-up, partial or whole.
Trouble shoots machine difficulties to obtain best possible recordings.
 Takes reasonable actions as necessary.
Meetings: In House
1. Meets with supervisor a minimum of once a week to discuss:
Problems they feel the supervisor may not be aware of.
General issues and topics they feel necessary.
2. May call a technical meeting for staff as seen necessary.
3. Assists on policy development and modifications.

Performs general duties as directed
1. Machine cleaning assignments and assistance.
2. Notifies supervisor when record storage needs to be performed.
In the absence of a supervisor:
1. Oversees quality of all PSGs assisting/correcting Technicians/Technologists as necessary
2. Designates room assignments for all Patients and Subjects
3. Approves overtime and time-off as seen necessary
4. Gives out scoring assignments
5. Takes appropriate correctional actions as needed only with approval of department director and/or Human Resources.
6. Finds appropriate coverage for shifts when staff member calls off.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required. Registration as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technicians (BRPT) required.
Bachelor’s degree with some scientific coursework preferred.
Three (3) years of Clinical Polysomnographic Technologist experience.
LICENSURES AND CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
RPSGT Certified.
BCLS Certification.
