KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: 
  • High school graduate 
  • Requires two to three years of clinical laboratory experience with a working knowledge of specimen collection, handling, preparation, and work flow. 
  • Near Acuity: Ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less. 
  • Depth Perception: Ability to judge distance and space relationships. 
  • Accommodation: Ability to adjust vision to bring objects into focus. 
  • Color Vision: Ability to distinguish and identify different colors necessary to perform job functions. 
  • Must meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards and behaviors as outlined in the HFHS Customer Service policy as summarized below:

WORKING CONDITIONS: 
  • Regularly exposed to infection from disease-bearing specimens, organs and tissues. 
  • Occasionally exposed to radiation hazards. 
  • Exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment.
  • Exposed to odorous chemicals and specimens. 
  • Exposed to housekeeping/cleaning agents/chemicals. 
  • May be exposed to toxic chemicals. 
  • Exposed to explosive or flammable chemicals, gases. 
  • Subject to burns and cuts. 
  • Exposed to hot or noisy equipment. 
  • Exposed to hot and humid work environment. 
  • Variations in temperature from hot to cold. 
  • Subject to work interruptions and changing priorities. 
  • Occasionally subjected to irregular hours. 
  • May be required to handle absentee replacement on short notice. 
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: 
  • Eye and face protection, gown, lab coat, apron, mask, non-sterile medical gloves, and utility gloves, as required by task or duties. 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 
  • Moderate physical effort that may require the ability to lift/carry up to 25 lbs. 
  • Occasional prolonged standing/walking or sedentary work. 
  • Occasionally pushes/pulls or moves/lifts equipment/supplies. 
  • Manual dexterity and mobility. 
  • Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching.
