GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, designs, installs and maintains electronic components and systems for various communications, evacuation notification and other hospital subsystems.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Installs cameras, monitors, and other closed circuit television equipment for hospital security system.

·        Set-up closed circuit television systems for educational and entertainment purposes and operates filming equipment during video production.

·        Lays out, installs and services intercommunication systems for office use as well as for patient to nurse communication. · Installs and services commercial sound systems for general paging.

·        Installs master television antenna systems and calculates radio frequency system losses.

·        Installs and maintains all components of a Simplex 4120 Fire Alarm System such as fire control panel, smoke detectors duct detectors, using the computer control center as diagnostic tool.

·        Installs and maintains, and rebuilds all components of the Translogic CTS-30 Pneumatic Tube System, units are blowers, stations, transfer units, using the computer control center as a 'tool.

·        Services, calibrates and adjusts electronic sterilize controls.

·        Designs and fabricates circuits for special applications such as alarm systems for refrigeration, oxygen pressure and volume monitors.

·        Performs all other related duties as required.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • ·        Minimum of 4-8 years of experience including on the job training in fire alarm systems, life safety systems or Pneumatic Tube systems.
  • ·        Ability to troubleshoot/read basic and complex electrical/electronic circuits and schematics.
  • ·        Minimum of 4-8 years of experience repairing/replacing fire alarm systems and or pneumatic tube systems.
  • ·        Minimum of 4-8 years of experience conducting inspections and testing in accordance with NFPA Life Safety Codes preferred.
  • ·        Minimum of 4-8 years of experience in State and Local Fire and Electrical codes, CMS and Joint Commission regulations preferred.

 

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

·        Minimum of one or more of the following licenses:

o   State of Michigan Electrical Journeyman's License • City of Detroit Certificate of Fitness • State of Michigan Fire Alarm Specialty Technician

o   NICET Level 2 certification or higher


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exposed to temperature of hot and cold, noise, dust, electrical shock, falls and the use of chemicals in cleaning. Ability to lift and move electronic equipment and components such as television sets weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
