General Summary:

  • Manages the day-to-day operation of a Hospice program. 
  •  Oversees the office as well as supervises the function of the team. 
  • Assesses and identifies patient needs in accordance with the hospice concept of care. Assign volunteers and employees based on assessments and priorities of patient/family unit and availability of staff. 
  •  Directs the interdisciplinary team in providing continuity of care and evaluates effectiveness of care.


  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  •  Understanding and acceptance of the Hospice concept of care.
  •  A working knowledge of current pain and symptom management.
  •  At least two years experience in caring for the terminally ill.
  •  Prior experience in management and or supervision preferable. A 4-8 week orientation period is recommended to familiarize the employee with policies and procedures as they relate to the hospice program.


  • Must maintain current Michigan licensure as a registered nurse and hospice certification when available.


  • Works in a clean, well-lighted office environment.
  •  Occasionally subjected to irregular working hours.
  •  Position requires local and out of state travel. May be exposed to communicable diseases and environmental hazards in the homes of patients. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquires.
  •  Equally shares in administrative on-call rotation.
