A new Enterostomal Therapist opportunity is available on the Wound Care unit at the Henry Ford Hospital located on West Grand Blvd. in midtown Detroit. Previous Enterostomal Therapist experience is required.
A BSN degree or MSN degree is required for this position.
WOCN wound care certification is preferred.
This position works throughout the hospital with wound care in multiple units.

• Position: 36 hours
• Shift: Primarily day shift with minimal weekends and off shift. No holidays.

• Develops plan of care for wound/ostomy patients, in collaboration with nursing staff and other members of the patient care team.
• Selects appropriate ostomy and wound care products based on evaluation of patients’ needs and capabilities.
• Sets direction for nursing practice consistent with effective utilization of resources, patient’s identified goals, and standards of care.
• Utilizes the nursing process at an expert level (Benner) to assess, diagnose and treat the complex responses of individuals, families or communities to actual or potential health problems.
• Provides education to patients and families, communities and other health care providers; and serves as a role model and preceptor for other nurses in a variety of settings.
• Shares expertise with all members of the health care team through consultation and collaboration.
• Takes leadership role for quality improvement initiatives, providing in depth clinical expertise and critical analysis.

• Requires a Bachelor degree in Nursing. Master Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Previous Enterstomal Therapist experience is required.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Basic computer skills, including Excel.
• Ability to work independently and is self-directed.

• Current Michigan License as a Registered Nurse.
• Completion of Enterostomal Therapy program certification within specialty within 6 months of hire.
• BCLS (CPR) within 6 months of hire.
