The Director of Emergency, Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) and Central Monitoring is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and managing resources for the Emergency Department, CDU, and Central Monitoring and Outpatient/Observation Services, to maintain 24-hour accountability. The Director has overall responsibility for all the activities within these departments. Responsible for providing a climate in which professional nursing is practiced. Participates in department-specific and interdepartmental strategic planning. Responsible for activities relating to quality patient care, decision making, problem solving and all leadership functions. Stimulates a collaborative multidisciplinary team approach in the continuous improvement of quality, safety, and service for patients. Ensures regulatory compliance of departments within scope. Reports to the Nursing Administrator and may act on behalf of the Nursing Administrator in her or his absence.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
BSN required
Minimum of five (5) years of successful administrative experience in related clinical setting
RN with Master’s Degree in Nursing, Health Administration, or Business Administration (or enrolled in accredited program with completion within two (2) years)
Must meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards and behaviors as outlined in the HFHS’ Customer Service Policy and summarized below: Communication; Ownership; Understanding; Motivation; Sensitivity; Excellence; Teamwork; Respect
Must practice the customer skills as provided through on-going training and in-services

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE REQUIRED:
Current Nursing Licensure in Michigan
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
MSN
Previous leadership experience in an acute hospital Emergency Department (ED) setting at the manager or Director level
Level I or Level II Trauma Center experience
Certifications as a Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), Nurse Executive (NE-BC or NEA-BC), or Nurse Leader (CNML or CNL)
