Data Center Manager | Rochester Hiils, MI | Full Time
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Data Center Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of our data center facilities. This role requires an individual with a deep understanding of data center infrastructure, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage a team of technical professionals.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operational Management
- Ensure the data center operates at peak efficiency, maintaining uptime and performance standards.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of data center policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Monitor data center performance and infrastructure to identify and resolve issues promptly
- Coordinate and manage routine maintenance, upgrades, and repairs of data center equipment.
- Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of data center technicians and engineers.
- Provide training and development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration within the team and with other departments.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
- Capacity Planning and Management
- Plan and manage data center capacity, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently.
- Monitor and forecast resource usage to anticipate future needs and challenges.
- Work with stakeholders to plan for data center expansion or consolidation as required.
- Security and Compliance
- Implement and enforce security protocols to protect data center infrastructure and data.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and corporate policies.
- Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
- Vendor and Stakeholder Management
- Manage relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure quality and cost-effective services.
- Negotiate contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) with vendors.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide data center solutions that meet their needs.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in data center management or a similar role.
- Proven experience in managing data center operations, infrastructure, and teams.
- Previous facility management experience.
- Advanced knowledge of large electrical and cooling system infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure components, including servers, storage, networking.
- Proficiency in data center management tools and software.
- Experience with virtualization technologies and cloud computing.
- Understanding of data center security best practices and compliance requirements.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
