Manage and coordinate all aspects of medical equipment new acquisitions, replacements, and business startups. Working under general supervision, oversees one or more small to large sized Clinical Engineering projects of moderate to high complexity. Assists in managing smaller aspects of large programs or projects. Responsible for assembling project team, assigning individual responsibilities, identifying appropriate resources needed, and developing schedules to ensure timely completion of project. Must be familiar with the system scope and project objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member in order to effectively coordinate the activities of the team. Assists in defining requirements, designing, and implementing project modifications and development. 

** This position will be located in Detroit, MI but will require travel to multiple Henry Ford sites. 

** This position requires flexibility to work some evenings or weekends depending on the project. 


  • Creates and implements project definitions, schedules, budgets, and objectives for one or more small to large sized projects. 
  • Prepares detailed statements of work and gains concurrence and approval from stakeholders regarding various project aspects and adjusts accordingly. 
  • Participates in delivery assurance reviews to ensure adherence to project management policies and procedures. 
  • Assists in the staffing of projects. 
  • Organizes project team members to ensure communication and understanding of deadlines, assignments and objectives. 
  • Participates in work as applicable.
  • Manages costs, schedules and quality by overseeing project deliverables. 
  • Ensures schedule and budget are met.
  • Performs ongoing review of project status; identifies possible project risks. 
  • Recommends and implements risk mitigation solutions as approved and as appropriate. 
  • Interfaces with team members and stakeholders to manage changes to the project which may involve changes to technical requirements, business requirements and schedule


  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, information technology, engineering or related field preferred.
  • Seven (7) years of Clinical Engineering experience required. 
  • Three (3) years project management experience in a Healthcare setting preferred. Experience/exposure to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), certification preferred. 
  • Experience working with a project management methodology. 
  • Experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel, PowerPoint. Experience in Clinical Engineering system implementations and/or system maintenance activities. 
  • Including working knowledge of clinical and patient care equipment operation and applications. Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to be flexible with shift and weekends to accommodate project schedule. 
  • Good organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills. 
  • Must be able to acquire, analyze and negotiate service contracts and contractor bids for equipment services required to meet project objectives.
