Clinical Document Specialist
- Registered Nurse (RN), BSN preferred with current Michigan licensure. Demonstrated clinical competence as evidenced by 3-5 years clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting, preferably critical care.
- Exemplary organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to build relationships, negotiates process and outcomes, and influence behaviors.
- Knowledge of health care fiscal management goals and strategies, including, but not limited to trends and issues in health care reimbursement, coding guidelines and case flow.
- Ability and willing to accept autonomy with responsibility.
- Basic PC knowledge required.
- Commitment to collaborative relationships with all levels within the organization. Knowledge of ICD-9 Coding Guidelines preferred.
- Ability to withstand the pressure of continual deadlines and receipt of work with variable requirements.
- Ability to concentrate and maintain accuracy in spite of frequent interruptions.
- Ability to be courteous, tactful, and cooperative throughout the working day and perform appropriate personal and telephone techniques.
- Ability to realize that work volume cannot be controlled at which time be capable of accepting these stressful working conditions.
- Must be able to work independently, be resourceful with strong organization skills. Ability to use judgment in carrying out all phases of the work.
