General Summary:

Responsible for providing analytical and consulting support to the Risk Assessment & Rating department as it relates to Group Renewal process (Individual, Reform & Non-Reform); new business process, support and assist in recurring and/or special projects; develop and streamline processes which increase efficiencies within the department. Work extensively with database(s); prepare multiple documents, spreadsheets, and power point presentations relating to Risk Assessment & Rating projects and processes. Assist with planning and procedure development for the department.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and determine group quotes.
  • Respond to Request for Proposal/Request for Information (RFP/RFI).
  • Prepare analyses for competitor’s rates and benefit data, state rate filings and membership & revenue projections based on department’s practices and procedures.
  • Provide analytical support to Risk Assessment Analyst and Department Management.
  • Input information in the databases and maintain accuracy in the database(s).
  • As a key contact for the Risk Assessment & Rating department, interact professionally with Sales, BCT, Receivables and M&B; provide requested information and follow through on contacts as needed with diligent customer service.
  • Contact vendors and other clients to obtain/disburse information as appropriate.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting process or procedure enhancements.
  • Serve as a resource for training and developing Junior Analysts.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in underwriting, rate setting, cost analysis, statistics, budgeting or other related financial area.
  • Two (2) years’ experience working with Microsoft Excel.
  • One (1) year experience in a health care or insurance environment is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Good grammar and proofreading skills; above average written and verbal skills.
  • Organized and customer focused.
  • Team oriented with a willingness to accept challenging work assignments.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Aptitude for accuracy in arithmetic, checks and balances.
  • Advance knowledge of database functionality.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage several projects.
