GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, prepares items to be shipped out for credit, repair, exchange, evaluation or case studies. Coordinates shipping arrangements with various freight vendors for pick-ups. Inspects parcels and checks for proper shipping standards. Performs activities associated with the delivery of Supply & Distribution services. Assist in resolution of routine problems and process improvements.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

       Coordinates shipping arrangements with various freight carriers for pick-ups. Communicates with freight vendors such as Federal Express, Airborne, UPS, Emery, etc.

       Inspects all parcels to ensure they have been properly prepared for shipping according to security, (radioactive or hazardous materials) and shipping standards (correct address and labeling).

       Delivers supplies to patient care areas in an efficient, accurate and punctual manner.

       Maintain adequate supply levels in all patient care areas in designated areas, handling supplies to ensure sterility and infection control.

       Clean and maintain supply carts and equipment in a neat and orderly fashion so that staff can readily find what they need. Utilizes appropriate cleaning detergents and agents by reading directions and MSDS sheets, knowledge of the appropriate Protective Personal Equipment (PPE)

       Controls patient charges by collecting and batching patient charge cards daily.

       Delivers STAT and non-cart items ordered through the patient charging systems.

       Controls inventory by monitoring usage on carts and reporting any fluctuations to the coordinator for evaluation with the nursing managers.

       Order supplies using a hand-held computer. Download, upload and run orders using the current inventory system to maintain adequate levels of supplies on carts. Special order non-prime vendor supplies.

       Check, receive and distribute incoming supplies and stock in accordance with policies and procedures. Prepares and delivers stock verifying item number, description, quantities and delivery location.

       Delivers stock to proper location, receiving proper signatures from departments receiving the supplies. Maintains packing slips with signed copies attached for future reference.

       Responds to calls and resolves routine problems encountered by departments. Refers unusual or complex problems to supervisor for resolution.

       Sort mails into proper slots and send outgoing mail.

       Performs general maintenance (filling toner, staples and ordering paper) on first and second floor copiers.

       Periodically inspect inventory stock for expired items and non-sterile conditions, and equipment for up-to-date safety inspections and take appropriate action.

       Makes recommendations to improve processes, minimize waste and improve inventory control.

       Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, the Corporate Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

       High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent with some computer knowledge, typing ability and good communications skills.

       Approximately six (6) months previous experience in a warehouse or stock department or requisitioning, ordering, or receiving supplies environment in order to gain a working knowledge of the operations and procedures.
