RN Director-Women's and Children's
The Nursing Director, Women and Children鈥檚 Service (WCS) is responsible for the direction, leadership, and support of operational, financial, programmatic, continuous improvement and personnel activities for inpatient Women and Children鈥檚 care provided at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital. The director position is an essential leadership role within the WCS division. The director is responsible for all National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) quality metrics, adherence to regulatory requirements for 5 specific areas of care: pediatrics, labor and delivery, mother/baby, special care nursery, OBED, and the milk bank, use of Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) standards.
The director is the subject matter expert that drives quality, safety, accountability and engagement. Additionally, they are responsible for directing patient flow and care coordination through optimizing day-to-day operations, budgeting, financial management, and human resource management. Areas of direct oversight and responsibility include inpatient nursing, nursing assistants, unit secretaries, staffing coordinators, float pool, House Managers, and payroll specialists, and include establishing, meeting and continuously monitoring goals and objectives for areas of responsibility while maintaining alignment with system strategic goals and objectives.
This leader works closely with a variety of stakeholders, coordinating the activities of patient flow throughout a patient's stay and discharge to home or other outside facility. Provides coaching (e.g. teaching, leading and mentoring team members in continuous process improvement) and interacting with physicians, mid-level providers, team members, patients and family members, and other leaders at Henry Ford Health to identify and support improvement efforts toward performance excellence. They will serve as the programmatic and operational leader for inpatient care and work closely with other leaders.
Required Education and Experience:
路 Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or completion of other formal nursing education necessary to obtain/maintain an advanced practice nursing Michigan license (Mid-wife, CRNA, CNS or Nurse Practitioner) is required.
路 Master's Degree in Nursing, Business, Health Management or other related field preferred or enrolled in a master鈥檚 program, completion within one year of hire.
路 Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in leadership role of patient care unit or related department.
路 Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
路 Strong interpersonal skills that provide coaching and facilitation expertise.
路 Excellent problem-solving skills.
路 Demonstrates innovative, creative leadership styles.
路 Demonstrated project management experience.
路 Expertise in both inpatient and outpatient or OBED.
路 Professional certification.
路 Well versed in engaging teams, building structures and processes, and have experience working in a shared governance or Magnet model.
Certifications/Licensures Required:
路 Current licensure in the State of Michigan.
