GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Product Owner (PO) is responsible for guiding the success of a product, laying out a product vision that is differentiated and deliver unique value for
internal and external customers. The product owner owns the end-to-end product lifecycle from strategy/ideation to product release according to customer needs, timeline, and costs.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Owns the vision, mission and success criteria for a given product based on market needs identified by business owner.
- Supports development of business cases, ROI, and funding for Team with business owner.
- Responsible for market and competitive analysis of Product or Product Segment.
- Creates product backlog and prioritizes product backlog items that drive outcomes related to overall vision.
- Owns and creates the product roadmap with oversight from business owner.
- Communicates the product vision to stakeholders within and external to the organization and advocates for product as necessary.
- Work with stakeholders to develop and implement strategies for product membership growth and retention. Track and report on product performance
and progress against goals. - Create business strategy documents that recommend product innovation; lead the follow-up activities to ensure smooth transition and launch.
- Consults with technology stakeholders on overall architectural and platform direction.
- Identifies minimum viable experiments to help learn about our customers’ needs and defines minimum viable products to release to customers.
- Identify and lead product-specific strategies and initiatives for the continuous product improvement efforts of HAP’s product portfolio. This includes
coordination with stakeholders throughout the organization in the training and operations of these products. - Provides input on user experience and design by working with end users to test product features and writing acceptance criteria for the development
team. - Integrate insights from customers conversations, stakeholder feedback, and competitive research to identify product opportunities and differentiators.
- Defines success metric for their products; monitoring and refining product area based on learnings.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, information technology, or related field required.
- At least three (3) years’ product management or product development for large and complex problems preferably in managed care or insurance with
working knowledge of product and project management principles. - Experience building products with software development teams.
- Effective communicator who is comfortable talking to a wide range of stakeholders from technical staff to executives to understand their needs and
distill insights that drive product strategy. - Experience with customer journey mapping development.
- Experience working in an Agile Development environment.
- High energy: strong leadership, analytical, project planning and staff motivation/coordination skills to enable efficient, timely task completion of
deliverables that meet or exceed project expectations. - An excellent communicator and motivator.
- Product owner certification (i.e., CSPO) preferred.
- Knowledge of managed care principles and high-level understanding of managed care business functions (e.g. Sales, Membership & Billing,
Claims). - Proficient technical and software skills.
- Experience with Health Care Provider life cycle preferred.
- Experience with credentialing applications such as symplr beneficial.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- Product owner certification (i.e., CSPO) preferred.
