Enhance your skillset and knowledge of critically ill patient in this autonomous and supportive environment that values the ICU APP., We are a 12 bed MICU/CICU and a 12 bed SICU/NSICU.
- Provides nighttime inpatient critical care within the Medical/Surgical/Neuro Intensive Care Unit. in collaboration but not necessarily the presence of a board-certified intensivist (eg: Patient history, physical examination, ordering and interpreting tests, making diagnoses and instituting treatment plans).
- Looking for candidates with strong medical or surgical background who possess critical thinking skills and can function in a team setting.
- Highly autonomous position with opportunity for various procedures related to the ICU (CVC, arterial lines placement, thoracentesis and paracentesis).
- Experience with procedures is preferred but not required. Specific procedures within the Department of Medicine are individually credentialed as indicated by training and experience.
- No call. 12-hour shifts.
- APP work experience is required. Prefer ICU/Critical Care experience.
- Will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary critical care unit.
- The APP will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first line provider to critically ill patients and their families.
- Provides inpatient medical care for critically ill patients requiring ICU level of care.
- Works in collaboration with intensivist physicians, attending physicians, consultants, house officers, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently. Specific procedures as per credentialing as indicated by training and experience.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree or Completion of an AMA-approved Physician Assistant program minimum.- OR- Master's degree in Nursing
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- Michigan licensure and continued certification by the National Commission of Certification Physician Assistant (NCCPA) -OR -Must be a Masters prepared Registered Nurse with current certification as a Certified Nurse Practitioner. Current Michigan state license as Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse
- Current ACLS/BLS as required. Current ATLS/PALS provider status as required
- APP experience in critical care/ICU preferred
At least 1 year of inpatient experience is required
