Optometrist - Full time - Troy

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Works collaboratively with the General Manager and Optometrist in Charge to ensure each patient receives the best possible care, and the office achieves productivity and performance goals. Works collaboratively with the Department of Ophthalmology to ensure the seamless delivery of eye care to all patients. Supports professional staffing and office coverage needs and ancillary staff training.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Primary eye care
o Ocular health evaluation
o Eye glass prescriptions
o Contact lens prescriptions and care
o Management of eye disease
· Comprehensive primary eye care
· Routine eye care including comprehensive examinations, refractions, contact lens services
· Medical eye care for acute and chronic eye diseases
· Specialty eye care (ex. medically necessary contact lenses, dry eye clinic) privileges based on training and experienceWork with General Manager and Director of Clinical Services to maintain proper professional staffing and coverage within the clinic.
· Professional growth and compliance with continuing education requirements to maintain licensure
· Support ancillary staff training programs
· Support practice building programs.
o Develop and support new relationships with Henry Ford Medical Centers, ERs, and other system entities.
o Develop and support new relationships with non-Henry Ford entities if possible including pharmacies, nursing homes, etc.
o Maintain existing relationships with key individuals.
· Attend regularly scheduled office and staff meetings
· Act as a role model for other staff
· Embrace best practices to ensure that we are providing the highest possible level of professional care.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Successful completion of the program from a school of Optometry.
- Previous direct patient care experience.
- Experience in primary care optometry, preferred
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- Licensed as an Optometrist in the State of Michigan.
- Must be T.P.A./D.P.A. certified.
- Must meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards and behaviors as outlined in the HFHS’ Customer Service Policy
- Must practice the customer skills as provided through on-going training and in-services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
· Works in a retail optical environment.
· Requires evening and weekend hours.
