Nursing Assistant / Float Staffing / Full Time / Nights /36 hrs
Responsibilities: Essential Functions
- Assists, under direction of the RN, in providing basic patient care duties including, but not limited to, taking vital signs, patient hygiene activities, feeding and bathing of patients, and post-mortem care. Performs activities of daily living appropriate to the patient’s condition.
- Administers, under direction of the RN, basic treatments to patient including, but not limited to, preparing special procedure set-up, I & O measurement, collection of urine and stools, application of cold/heat packs. Performs Glucose monitoring.
- Provides unit support by responding to call lights within 2-5 minutes, passing water and linens, locating equipment, stocking supplies, cleaning and other non-clinical duties assigned by the RN.
- Assists in the transportation of patients. Assists in transporting specimens to the lab and collection of blood and blood products from Blood Bank. Obtains and delivers pharmacy orders as needed
Non-Essential Functions
- Adheres to safety and infection control precautions.
- Maintains current BLS certification, mandatory continuing education and mandatory competencies.
- Demonstrates and actively promotes an understanding and commitment to the mission through performing behaviors consistent with the Standards of Performance and Code of Ethics.
- Promotes a positive work environment as evidenced by quality service and positive staff attitudes.
- The Nursing Assistant shall have access to and disclose personal health information only when reasonably necessary to perform the designated job-related responsibilities. Disclosure and/or use of personal health information for any purpose other than as reasonably necessary for designated job responsibilities is prohibited.
- Performs other duties as assigned and needed. Additional duties may include non-clinical duties consistent with meeting the needs of the patient care team and unit operations.
- This position requires the ability to identify age related differences within the persons served and the adjustment of treatment style and expectations as appropriate, including adjustments based on the person’s served cognitive function and learning ability. This will include taking into account their religious and cultural needs and preferences.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Current AHA BLS certification or obtain within first week of hire through HEART CODE required.
