Location: Henry Ford Detroit

Status: Full-Time | Days | 36hrs

Schedule: Rotating Schedule | 4days per week - one 12hr shift and three 8hr shifts

Setting: 100% Inpatient | 60% Postpartum, 40% Benign Gynecology

Weekends: Every other weekend

 

 

Position Overview:

Henry Ford Health System is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Women’s Health inpatient team at a Level IV maternal care center. This high-acuity, high-impact role offers a broad clinical scope across obstetrics and benign gynecology, with active involvement in patient care from admission through discharge, including care coordination, clinical decision-making, and safe care transitions. The position is procedurally rich, providing opportunities for bedside procedures such as neonatal circumcisions, while working closely with attending physicians and a multidisciplinary team of residents, fellows, and students in a collaborative academic environment. Designed to address key system needs such as discharge efficiency and care coordination, this role allows providers to make a direct and visible impact on patient safety, experience, and operational performance. Ideal for an APP who values both autonomy and teamwork, this position offers strong physician and leadership support while enabling you to practice at the top of your license in a mission-driven setting.

Qualifications:

 

  • NP or PA graduate from an accredited program
  • Experience in Women’s Health (Labor and Delivery or outpatient setting)
  • Experience in management of postoperative patients
  • Current (or in-process) Michigan licensure
  • National certification (ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA)
  • BLS required; ACLS required (or obtained after hire)

 

Credentials:

 

Education & Training

·         Physician Assistant (PA): Completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)

·         Nurse Practitioner (NP): Completion of a Nurse Practitioner program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)

 

Licensure

·         Current licensure as a Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner in the State of Michigan, or in the process of applying (proof of application required).

 

Certification

·         PA: Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

·         NP: National certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan

(e.g., ANCC, AANP)

 

Required Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – required (may be obtained after hire)

DEA / Controlled Substance Licensure

  • PA: DEA and Michigan Controlled Substance License (CSL) required through credentialing
  • NP: DEA registration required through credentialing; NPs do not hold a Michigan CSL and will use their Michigan license number during the application process
