Location: Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital - 6777 W Maple Rd, West Bloomfield Township, MI 48322

Schedule: 36 hours per week, every other weekend and holiday rotation

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3x12 hours shifts)

As a Nurse Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring patient comfort, safety, and well-being. Working under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), you will assist with essential patient care tasks and actively contribute to a positive patient experience.

 

ABOUT OUR UNIT:

The Inpatient Unit for Women’s and Children’s Health which is on the 3rd floor of the Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital. The nursing staff on 3-Acorn provide professional individual 24-hour care to the following patient populations:

  • Pediatric patients with ages ranging from birth to 25 years of age.
  • Postpartum care to female patients and their newborns recovering from birth via caesarean section or vaginal delivery.
  • Adult female surgical patients who are acutely ill, but hemodynamically stable and in varying stages of preparation for and recuperation from diagnostic, therapeutic, and/or surgical intervention
  • Medical care mainly to adult woman with acute and chronic exacerbations of medical

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Your day-to-day impact includes:

  • Performing routine tasks such as measuring and recording vital signs, collecting and labeling specimens including blood draws, and performing venipuncture and chemsticks.
  • Assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges as directed by the RN.
  • Providing compassionate, hands-on personal care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, mobility, and comfort.
  • Communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to support seamless care delivery.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized patient environment

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
To qualify, you’ll need a high school diploma or equivalent and one of the following:

  • Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles may vary: Patient Care Technician (PCT), Patient Assistant Technician (PAT)).
  • Enrollment in a nursing program with completed Fundamentals of Nursing.
  • Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license
  • Medical Assistant program (with or without experience).
  • At least one (1) year of experience in an Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Tech, or Patient Assistant Tech, or similar job role.
  • Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) preferred

 

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

  • Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during orientation.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Physical ability to lift and move patients, supplies, and equipment.
  • Prolonged standing, walking, and lifting of patients, supplies, and equipment.
  • Works in patient care area environments, which may include exposure to communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, acute patient conditions, potential exposure to infection, and hazardous gases.
