 GENERAL SUMMARY: This leadership position oversees clinical, training, educational, and research services for the Henry Ford Health Trauma Recovery Center (TRC). Provides leadership in developing and implementing standards for comprehensive, evidence, and trauma-informed, culturally responsive services, while maintaining fidelity to the TRC model. Serves as the clinical leader of the TRC, providing ongoing supervisory and consultative support for clinical staff and ensuring ongoing training and development. Collaborates with the TRC Program Manager around administrative direction, strategic planning, financial/budgetary performance, operations, staffing, quality, and satisfaction. Serves as a leader, developing and maintaining community partnerships, representing the TRC to local and state government levels and at the system level. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A.    Direct patient care to survivors of trauma and crime:

1.    Administers and interprets appropriate diagnostic instruments to determine a patient’s level of cognitive, psychological, emotional, and behavioral functioning, including their adjustment to their injury/illness

2.    Plans appropriate provision of care for patients based on evaluation results, patient/family goals and values, sound clinical judgement, and other pertinent available information

3.    Provides trauma and evidence-informed and culturally responsive treatment including individual, conjoint, family, group, and didactic (as qualified), ensuring that the treatment plan is age-appropriate and adjusted as necessary in order to meet the changing needs of the patient

4.    Communicates with other team members, other professionals, family members, and caregivers for the purpose of sharing information that will assist in achieving optimum care for the patient

5.    Ensures access for patient appointments is timely and in accordance with clinic expectations and standards

6.    Completes all clinical documentation in a timely manner and in accordance with state and federal regulatory agencies and Henry Ford Medical Group standards and expectations

B.    Supervision and Consultation:

1.    Provides ongoing, weekly consultation to fully licensed psychology and social work clinical staff to ensure quality and effective care is being provided, as well as supervision to limited license clinical staff

2.    In collaboration with Program Manager, provides performance feedback for clinical staff through review of chart documentation, treatment observation, and mid-year and annual reviews

3.    Participates in weekly case conference and other treatment team meetings, as well as staff self-care programs

4.    Responsible for developing and maintaining new-hire training and clinical standards as well as comprehensive orientation

C.   Administrative & Daily Operations:

1.    Responsible for ensuring a productive schedule with direct clinical care

2.    Upholds system policies and procedures for Henry Ford Health, and ensures compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies

3.    In collaboration with Program Manager, ensures appropriate staffing for the TRC including recruitment and hiring, as well as program development and expansion activities

4.    As appropriate and needed, participates in program promotion, marketing, and philanthropy including community events, conferences, speaking engagements, media requests, and grant writing/fundraising

5.    In collaboration with Program Manager, prepares clinical reports for the TRC as scheduled and identifies data required for quality assurance indicators

6.    Actively participates in department meetings, in-services, and continuing education programs

7.    In collaboration with Program Manager and Risk Management, evaluates risk management issues and facilitates their resolution

8.    Ensures medical records, information, and documentation are accurate and reflect the data upon which treatment is based and the actual treatment provided

D.   Clinical Direction:

1.    Is specialized in evidence-informed practices for diagnosis, evaluation, and comprehensive treatment for adult survivors of trauma and crime and remains current on literature, practices, resources, and changes in the field

2.    Designs, develops, and implements protocols specific to the assessment and treatment of survivors of trauma and crime of all ages

3.    Provides leadership for development, implementation, and expansion of program and clinical guidelines, care pathways, and related workflow, as well as innovative approaches to care

4.    Ensures TRC is maintaining fidelity to the TRC model, maintains collaborative relationship with National Alliance of Trauma Recovery Centers

5.    Establishes professional development and continuing education priorities through needs assessments, recommendations of staff, and patient feedback

6.    Participates in system-wide committees, groups, and quality initiatives

E.    Research & Education:

1.    Participates in education, either by didactic presentations or clinical supervision of trainees as qualified

2.    Internally or in partnership with external stakeholders, expands knowledge base and field of trauma, trauma care, and survivorship through research and dissemination of research

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Psychology from an APA accredited program. 
  • Completion of APA accredited internship. 
  • Completion of post-doctoral fellowship with specialization in clinical psychology or behavioral medicine preferred. 
  • Must have training/specialization with trauma-informed care and trauma populations in ambulatory clinical setting. 
  • Research design and grant writing experience preferred.

 CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED

  • Fully Licensed Psychologist in the State of Michigan.
