Registered Nurse/CVICU/Midnights/36 Hours
- BSN preferred
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans
- Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
UNIT OVERVIEW:
The Cardiovascular ICU offers a new learning experience each day due to the variety of cardiology and surgical specialties cared for in our 24 bed unit. Patient populations include heart transplants, acute myocardial infarction, severe heart failure, and cardiothoracic surgical patients. Our patients are cared for by a competent mix of both new and experienced team members under the leadership of an experienced charge nurse. Qualified candidates are hospital nursing team members who have gained at least one year of recent
in-patient nursing experience. The orientation phase is individualized to meet the needs of the orientees and begins monthly. Unit training typically is 12 weeks and successful completion of the hospital critical care course is also a requirement.
The CVICU has a strong shared governance program that is on the move developing the following standards, programs, and perks:
•Staffing and scheduling work group. Day shift hours awarded by seniority, participation and attendance.
•Every third weekend awarded based on attendance.

•Unit specific education didactics.
•Unit mentorship program.
•Staff development program.

•In-unit recognition program. Education work group.
•Periodic in-servicing and education. Patient Care Standards. Work role re-design. Regulatory compliance standards.
